Overview

The Storage and Virtualization Engineer evaluates, implements and maintains Storage Area Networks (SANs) and storage systems across enterprise platforms. Responsibilities

Hands-on experience with SAN/NAS management; coordinate and perform system backups; monitor system availability; troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve problems; recover processes affected during down-times; perform hardware and software configurations; monitor and tune storage systems; participate in change management and disaster recovery. Serve as primary point of contact for network incidents that cannot be resolved by support technicians. Collaborate with Unix and Windows system administrators to connect and configure Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) on servers; design, configure and provision storage for servers. Perform day-to-day storage system administration, hardware installation, performance monitoring and client problem resolution. Work with Unix and Windows system administrators to configure and provision storage for servers; analyze performance from server and storage perspectives using appropriate tools (including Windows and Unix performance utilities). Troubleshoot and potentially correct issues related to storage connectivity, capacity or performance; perform periodic and emergency system maintenance with minimal business impact; troubleshoot and resolve storage-related hardware and software problems. Work with Unix and Windows engineers to isolate problems and provide corrective action; may require after-hours and on-call work schedules for unplanned events. Perform full and incremental backups of all lab infrastructure and systems, including systems connected to the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN). Provide efficient and reliable storage allocation and define backup, recovery, archival procedures. Maintain storage configurations to provide capacity planning and performance monitoring/tuning. Possess in-depth knowledge of storage networking standards, protocols, security, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Perform general maintenance, backup and restoration tasks as assigned. VMware Certified Professional (VCP-Cloud or higher) or equivalent experience VMware Certified Advanced Professional on vSphere 5 (VCAP5-) EMC Certified Information Storage Associate (EMCISA or higher) or equivalent experience Note:
