Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Travel Position Location: Asheville, NC Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12s Days, Nights Pay: $2,077.20/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Asheville, NC on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide specialized care for patients requiring close monitoring and nursing support that bridges the gap between intensive care and general medical-surgical units. The ideal candidate has strong PCU or step-down experience, excels in high-acuity environments, and is committed to delivering safe, compassionate, evidence-based patient care. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU setting. Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and patient conditions, intervening promptly as necessary. Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and in a timely manner. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions. Maintain precise documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the medical record. Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices in PCU care. Qualifications Current and valid RN license in North Carolina (or compact eligibility). Minimum 1–2 years of recent PCU or step-down nursing experience in an acute care setting. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Strong critical thinking, communication, and clinical decision-making skills in high-acuity situations. Compassionate and adaptable approach to patient care.
