Gypsum Management & Supply, Inc. (GMS) is the leading North American distributor of gypsum wallboard, acoustical ceiling products and other specialty building materials. GMS operates an expansive network of distribution centers nationwide. GTS Interior Supply has more than 20 yards across the Pacific Northwest, including locations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. This role is with the GMS family of companies. Position Summary

The primary function of the mechanic is to ensure a vehicle operates at maximum efficiency. The mechanic must have knowledge of mechanics, computerized automotive systems, and the mechanical profiles and specifications of a variety of automobile/equipment makes, models and years. He/she must understand computerized repair and testing systems and have excellent eye-hand coordination, physical stamina and skill with tools. The mechanic applies knowledge in troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and service to operating staff members.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect belts, hoses, and mechanical systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Lubrication, light service, electrical, and PM service.
  • Perform and validate equipment inspections to ensure safe operations and handling.
  • Refer heavy-duty repairs to the designated Repair Service Company when required.
  • Keep records of repairs performed and report to the Assistant.
  • Work on a variety of makes, models and equipment.
  • Complete work and repair orders in a timely fashion.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment or specialty equipment (large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC or Oil & Gas equipment) strongly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to handle physical workload.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, bend, turn, squat and use hands for up to 80% of the time.
  • Occasional indoor/outdoor work as required by the job.
  • Must have sufficient arm strength to use hand tools.
  • Move equipment weighing 50 pounds or more as needed.
  • Must be able to problem solve, prioritize tasks, manage stress, multitask, analyze information and communicate solutions quickly.

Estimated Compensation Range

$22.00 - $45.00 / hour
