Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Manager - Accounting in Washington, DC. Summary: The Senior Manager oversees the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with all regulatory and nonprofit-specific requirements. This role supports strategic decision-making through timely financial reporting and plays a key role in maintaining fiscal integrity and advancing the organization's mission. Responsibilities
Lead and manage the accounting team, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, as well as nonprofit-specific requirements (e.g., Form 990) Manage the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors, preparation of audit schedules, and resolution of audit findings Experience managing audits and working with external auditors Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the board of directors Monitor grant funding and restricted contributions, ensuring proper allocation, tracking, and reporting Support fundraising and program teams with financial data and donor reporting Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles Experience in nonprofit financial management and fund accounting Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit compliance requirements Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills Preferred Skills
Experience with ERP systems and financial dashboards Familiarity with grant management and donor reporting Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders Additional information The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
