Accounting Manager (Individual Contributor) - Onsite | $90,000-$100,000 + Discretionary Bonus | Mundelein, IL

A well-established, privately held company in the retail sector, with over $500 million in annual revenue and a century-long history, is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to join its corporate headquarters in Mundelein, Illinois. This organization operates dozens of retail locations and is recognized for its financial stability, employee longevity, and collaborative culture. This is a newly created, high-impact role due to departmental restructuring.

Role Highlights
  • Fully onsite, Monday-Friday, at corporate HQ in a pleasant business park near many amenities

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple legal entities
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and development of KPIs and financial dashboards
  • Coordinate annual audits and manage documentation for external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with corporate, sales, and other tax requirements; partner with external tax/accounting firms
  • Monitor daily cash balances, manage fund transfers, and provide liquidity forecasts
  • Collaborate with retail and operations teams to provide financial insights
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc reporting
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience (senior accountant or manager level)
  • Demonstrated hands-on ownership of treasury, accounting tasks, financial reporting, and audit coordination
  • Stable work history with a track record of long-term growth and contribution
  • Experience in retail or multi-location corporate accounting (strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor, with potential for future leadership
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $90,000-$100,000 per year
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance available after 60 days of employment; company covers 50% of medical premiums
  • 401(k) plan with company match: 100% match up to 3% of pay, plus 50% match on the next 2%
