The Director/Head of Strategic Procurement is responsible for transforming procurement into a value-driving function that supports business growth, innovation, and operational excellence. This role leads the development and execution of sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, supply continuity, and supplier performance across the enterprise. Acting as a strategic business partner, the director ensures alignment between procurement initiatives and organizational objectives by collaborating cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. The position requires a forward-thinking leader who can navigate complexity, champion best procurement practices, and drive continuous improvement within a centralized procurement model.

Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute category strategies that align with corporate objectives and growth plans
Partner with executive stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into procurement strategies
Drive enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives, supplier rationalization, and cost reduction programs
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a key liaison between procurement and internal functions (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Legal, Manufacturing)
Ensure procurement actively supports product development, operational efficiency, and market responsiveness
Supplier Relationship & Risk Management
Lead negotiations with key suppliers to secure optimal terms and value-added services
Establish robust supplier performance metrics and risk mitigation strategies
Foster supplier innovation and sustainability alignment
Governance, Compliance & Process Improvement
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulations, and ethical sourcing practices
Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, data governance, and procurement systems
Champion the use of spend analytics and digital procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Coupa, LeanDNA)
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing procurement team
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and stakeholder service
Qualifications Education and/or Experience requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
10+ years of progressive procurement experience, including global sourcing and strategic category management
5+ years in a leadership or centralized procurement role, preferably in a complex or multi-site organization
Deep understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier management, and total cost of ownership
Strong analytical and financial acumen, with experience using spend analytics to drive decisions
Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
Proven track record of leading transformation and cross-functional initiatives
Expertise with procurement technologies and ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Ariba, LeanDNA, Coupa)
At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $155,000 and $261,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
