About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MS/Tele Nursing Float Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: NIHSS preferred, but not required Description: A WA license is required or a compact license. Auto offer is based on prescreen recommendation. Approval from the manager is needed for start date and request time off. The nursing float unit has a capacity of 32 beds. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. NIHSS is preferred, but not mandatory. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 5:1. In the event of inpatient boarding, ratios may adjust to 6:1. The electronic medical record system in use is Epic. Charge nurse responsibilities are present. Nurse aides are typically available, with 4-5 per shift. Weekend work is required every other week. Holiday work is also required. Professional scrub colors, patterns, and styles are acceptable. Scrub color is navy blue. Telemetry monitors are available. Nurses are responsible for reviewing telemetry strips. Common drips include Heparin, Cardizem, and Insulin (excluding DKA protocol) and narcotics for comfort. Vents are not utilized in this unit. A hospitalist or intensivist is available on-site. IV assistance is provided by a cross-shift SWAT team. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts consist of 12-hour durations. Nights are from 1900-0730. Floating between all Med Surg/PCU/ED boarding and temporary bed location units is required. Floor-specific orientation is available. Common diagnoses in this unit include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, ETOH withdrawal, kidney issues, dementia, and CVA. Close observation is facilitated through camera monitoring.
