Job Description
A mission-driven legal organization is looking for a Legal Secretary to support its attorneys in providing vital legal services to the community. This role begins as temporary with the strong possibility of converting to permanent employment.
What You'll Do
- Draft and prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, and case-related documents.
- Manage calendars, schedule hearings/meetings, and keep case files organized.
- Serve as a key contact for clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
- Handle phone calls, visitors, and routine inquiries with professionalism.
- File pleadings electronically and coordinate logistics for hearings, mediations, and depositions.
- Step in to assist colleagues when coverage is needed and help with administrative overflow.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support as required.
- At least one year of prior legal office experience (law firm or nonprofit setting).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfort learning legal case management systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Typing speed of 60+ WPM preferred.
- Salary: $37,500 - $40,000 annually (DOE).
