Schedule: 2nd Shift - Monday - Friday 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Overview

The Building Services Department is seeking one (1) Custodian II to join the team and support the department’s goal of excellence. We hire great people from diverse backgrounds to strengthen our team. This role provides custodial care for Georgia State University facilities, including cleaning and room set-ups in assigned building areas, following established routines and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors; vacuums.
• Performs duties to maintain cleanliness of floors and various areas (laboratories, offices, classrooms, public areas).
• Removes trash, cleans counters, equipment, furnishings, and restrooms; restocks supplies.
• Sets up chairs, tables, and equipment for classrooms, meeting rooms, and public areas.
• Handles emergency clean-ups and other related tasks as needed.
• Supports Custodian I assignments as needed; may perform duties across related areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely; may work around potentially hazardous materials in laboratories.
• Must be able to bend, twist, reach overhead, push/pull floor equipment, and lift 30 pounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting.
• Ability to lift approximately 30-50 lbs.
• Some knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Completion of a documented formal training in facilities course (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a lead person on a cleaning team.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in institutional, industrial, or commercial settings.
• Six months of experience using powered cleaning equipment and restoring floors.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when required.
• Strong ability to follow oral and written instructions.
