Sterling Search Partners is helping a Birmingham client with its search for a Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting a wide range of HR functions including employee relations, compliance, benefits, recruiting support, and performance management.

This role requires strong knowledge of HRIS systems and the ability to partner with IT to optimize HR technology solutions, ensure data integrity, and improve HR processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HRIS & Technology
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot HRIS systems (e.g., UKG, Workday, ADP, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Partner with IT to implement system upgrades, integrations, and security protocols.
  • Ensure data accuracy, reporting, and compliance within HRIS.
  • Develop and generate reports and dashboards for HR metrics and compliance.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and HR processes.
  • Support investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Assist in full-cycle recruitment: posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating offers.
  • Manage onboarding processes including system setup, orientation, and compliance documentation.
  • Benefits & Payroll Support
  • Support benefits administration (enrollment, changes, and employee education).
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate employee records and compensation.
  • Performance & Development
  • Support performance review cycles, goal tracking, and learning & development programs.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on career development tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of HR Generalist experience with exposure to multiple HR disciplines.
  • Strong experience with HRIS systems and reporting tools (HR analytics, data visualization a plus).
  • Solid understanding of employment law, HR compliance, and best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across HR, IT, and business departments.

Base pay range: $60,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
