About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: Permanent Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in oncology License: Active compact license or applicable state license Certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), OCN Must-Have: Must have 2 years of recent oncology experience. Chemo certification is required. Description: Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology. Experience with medical surgical oncology patients is essential. The role involves care for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Candidates will participate in research and clinical trials, including CART and stem cell transplant. Experience with bone marrow transplant, general hematology/oncology required. Responsibilities include chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPap, procedure sedation, and tracheostomy care. Candidates must have skills in blood and blood products administration. Familiarity with cooling/warming blankets, drains, feeding tubes, fistulas, and PCA pumps is necessary. PICC/Central line and Port-A-Cath/Vascular device access and care are required. Experience in wound vac usage and management of medications such as heparin, insulin, and Lasix is preferred. Candidates will need to monitor for acute tumor lysis syndrome and recognize abnormal lab values. Patient and family education and support are important components of the role. The job involves administering chemotherapy and managing side effects, including extravasation injury and sepsis. Clinicians will provide hospice care and assist with various oncology-related procedures. This position requires physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, and rapid response teams for interdisciplinary support. Candidates should be prepared for a patient ratio of 4-5 during the day and 5 during the night. Weekend coverage is required, with a specific number of weekend shifts determined by scheduling needs. Candidates must be flexible to meet unit needs and may be required to float to other areas as necessary.
