Position Overview We are seeking an experienced

Oncology Registered Nurse (Chemotherapy Certified)

to join the inpatient oncology team at UCSF, a leading academic medical center. This role is best suited for RNs with a background in teaching hospitals, proven chemotherapy administration experience, and strong oncology clinical skills. Travel nursing experience is required, though highly qualified first-time travelers will be considered.

UCSF Medical Center, 505 Parnassus Ave, San Francisco, CA

Start Date:

October 14, 2025

Assignment Duration:

12 weeks

Shift:

Night – 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Patient Ratio:

1:4 | Unit Census: 29 patients (33 beds)

Pay Rate:

$70 per hour

Minimum Requirements

Active California RN license

BLS (AHA) certification

ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certification

At least 2 years of recent inpatient oncology experience in an academic medical center

Demonstrated experience administering chemotherapy

Ability to float to other UCSF locations

Previous travel nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications

Charge RN experience

Telemetry experience

Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy experience

Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification

Core Clinical Competencies Infusion and IV Therapy

IV therapy, port access, central and PICC line care

Administration of chemotherapy, hydration, blood products, and biotherapy

Infusion pump management

Oncologic and Emergency Care

Management of chemotherapy side effects

Handling of oncologic emergencies including anaphylaxis, sepsis, ATLS, and extravasation

Familiarity with bone marrow transplant procedures and stem cell therapies

Chemotherapy Administration

Continuous infusions, IV push, oral chemotherapy

Cytotoxic spill management

Lab result interpretation and patient education

Patient Education and Psychosocial Support

Hospice and palliative care, symptom management, advanced directives

Education and support for patients and families

General Nursing Procedures

Chest tube care, colostomy, Foley catheter, tracheostomy

Neutropenic and isolation precautions

Telemetry monitoring, wound care, and pain management

Common Medications Administered

Antitumor agents, antibiotics, antiemetics

Corticosteroids, Neupogen

Patient Population

Leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma

Radiation therapy and total body irradiation

Unit and Schedule Details

Schedule: 3x12s, Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Patient Ratio: 1:4 across all shifts

Unit Size: 33 beds (average daily census: 29)

Float Requirement: Yes, across UCSF sites

Time Off: Up to 2 pre-approved days
