Job Summary
The Senior Director of Donor Engagement is a results-oriented leader responsible for executing a comprehensive individual giving program that drives donor and volunteer engagement, delivers successful fundraising campaigns, and maximizes event performance. This role manages a portfolio of annual and corporate donors while overseeing initiatives that deepen relationships and broaden community support. Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Senior Director joins a tight-knit, mission-driven team committed to advancing Presbyterian Night Shelter’s work to end homelessness through shelter, housing, and employment. This position supervises the Donor Engagement Manager and Volunteer Engagement Manager and plays a central role in building strong donor pipelines, executing high-impact events, and creating meaningful volunteer opportunities that lead to sustainable philanthropic growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including annual, monthly, and mid-level donor campaigns. Oversee the execution of campaigns/events such as NTX Giving Day, direct mail appeals, and the annual gala. Supervise and coach the Donor Engagement Manager and Volunteer Engagement Manager, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence. Manage a personal portfolio of donors, ensuring thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans are in place. Collaborate with the Senior Director of Philanthropy to ensure cohesive fundraising efforts across individual and institutional giving streams. Partner with colleagues across the agency to integrate donor and volunteer engagement with programs, housing, and social enterprise initiatives. Use data and analytics to evaluate campaign performance, donor and volunteer trends, and engagement metrics to inform strategy and drive results. Represent the development department in internal and external meetings, ensuring the donor and volunteer voice is embedded across the organization. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related field required; CFRE preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising and event execution, including supervision of staff. Proven success in managing donor portfolios, executing multi-channel campaigns, and exceeding fundraising goals. Experience managing or integrating volunteer engagement into development efforts. Strong project management and time management skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with CRMs (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred) and volunteer management software (e.g., Volgistics). Excellent relationship-building skills with donors, volunteers, and community partners. Commitment to accountability, execution, and achieving measurable outcomes. Passion for the mission of Presbyterian Night Shelter and a deep commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
