Haag, a Salas O’Brien Company and a leader in forensic engineering and consulting since 1924, is seeking an experienced Forensic Building Consultant. The ideal candidate would be based in Cincinnati, OH or Columbus, OH. Working remotely from your home office, you will conduct field inspections, determine extent of damages, provide cost estimates, and perform litigation support services. Inspections may include but are not limited to damaged roofs, foundations, and various other elements damaged by severe weather, hail, flooding, earthquakes, fires, explosions, construction defects, and other natural and manmade causes.
The ideal candidate should have:
7 + years of experience performing commercial, industrial, institutional and residential building inspections.
7 + years of experience cost estimating repairs for damages caused by environmental conditions, construction defects, material/structural defects, and ground movements.
7+ years of expertise in mid-to-large loss commercial, industrial, institutional and residential property restoration (as contractor or consultant).
Technical proficiency with Xactimate is required. Proficiency with Symbility, RS Means and Blue Beam is preferred. Proficiency with MS Excel is highly desired.
A strong understanding of the insurance industry, including working with insurance adjusters and preparing repair/restoration estimates and ROMs.
A background in providing litigation support (deposition, arbitration. and/or trial) is preferred.
Ability to travel (primarily local and regional) by vehicle or by plane, with about 25% of travel being overnight.
Ability to work in the field, often under extreme conditions, and perform physical requirements of the job, including working in confined spaces and on roofs.
Experience with setting up, calibrating, and operating various technological equipment is necessary.
Commercial General Contractor (CGC) License is preferred.
Insurance related training and certifications, such as IICRC, RRO, Adjuster License, Xactimate training, etc., are highly desired.
Strong writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team of experts.
Ability to provide the utmost in customer service to our clients.
Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or any legal restrictions.
Education and Qualifications:
A HS Diploma or GED is required. An A.S. or B.S. degree in a related field is preferred, but a combination of experience and education will be considered.
Industry-related training and certifications, such as IICRC, RRO, General Contractor License, Adjuster License, Xactimate training, etc., are highly desired.
Compensation and Benefits:
The total compensation range for this position is $85,000 - $145,000 per year, with a base salary range of $85,000 to $125,000 and a variable compensation range of $0 to $20,000 per year.
