Position Director of Quality
Fort Worth, TX
The Director of Quality Assurance will work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Maintenance, Warehouse and Production personnel to ensure timely execution of the company operations while ensuring uncompromised food safety compliance. Ensure that all duties are performed in accordance with USDA (U.S. Department of Ag), SSOP (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures), HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points), FDA (Food & Drug Administration), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), all safety policies and procedures, and any other established policies and requirements necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement the product quality plan including strategies that will achieve quality targets consistent with the organization's strategic plan
Directly Responsible for all QA operations, to perform as a highly aligned network
Maintenance and improvements to QA System
Assure that the company's quality grading requirements are applied accurately and consistently throughout all products
Ascertain industry best practices to identify new and/or unique platform technology to significantly improve efficiency in QA operations, as well as programs to differentiate the company in the marketplace and continually delight our consumers
Apply process improvement methodology where appropriate
Develop, Track, analyze and communicate quality and food safety related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Represent the company in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with Suppliers, Buyers, co-packers and Customers in addition to adherence to Company policies and practices
Ensure the security of the company's proprietary and confidential information and material
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Meat Science, Poultry Science preferred – Other applicable Science degrees considered
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing/directing plant quality assurance programs, and/or working with corporate quality assurance programs for manufacturing
Experience in HACCP, BRC, organic, kosher, FSMA Food Safety Plan
Strong sense of urgency
Ability to work PM and AM shifts, weekend and holiday hours
Time Management: Managing one's own time and the time of others
Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Coordination: Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
Reading Comprehension: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Monitoring: Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively before groups of employees of organization.
Ability to effectively hire, train and mentor employees in the organization in all matters of food safety and quality
Ability to safely work alone to complete assigned tasks
Ensures site Adherence to all company GMP’s and follows company directives on regulatory, product quality, sanitation, food safety, employee and environmental standards
Effectively communicates with Production, Warehouse, Maintenance and QA, focusing on conducting effective and timely sanitation of specific areas within the food processing environment
Continual Development, Maintenance and upkeep of sanitation performance standards in the organization. Properly ensuring all sanitary requirements are met.
