Harrison LLP’s Finance team is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Billing Specialist
to join its team. In this role, you will play a critical part in the financial operations of the Firm, ensuring accurate, timely, and client-focused billing practices. This position requires a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and discretion, as well as the ability to manage complex billing arrangements in a fast-paced legal environment. What You Will Do
Prepare and manage high-volume billing cycles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client guidelines. Review, edit, and finalize proformas based on attorney and assistant feedback. Apply retainer funds and manage complex billing structures, including split billing, alternative fee arrangements, and multi-matter clients. Maintain billing documentation and create reports and spreadsheets for internal analyses. Research and resolve billing discrepancies or inquiries from attorneys and clients. Deliver exceptional service to internal stakeholders and external clients, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Ensure billing deadlines are consistently met and maintain up-to-date records. What You Will Need
Minimum of 5 years’ billing experience in a law firm environment. Strong understanding of complex billing scenarios (e.g., discounts, multi-party payors, exception rates). Ability to initially work 5 days in-office (Chicago, San Francisco, or St. Louis); transitioning to 3 days in-office and 2 days remote. High school diploma or equivalent. What Would Be Nice To Have
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Experience with billing software (Aderant). Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information. Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $85,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr. Target Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 annually. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant experience and training, skills set, current business needs, market factors, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This role will also be eligible for an annual discretionary variable incentive bonus.
