Physician, Gastroenterologist

– Recruitment/Relocation Incentive and EDRP Authorized. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until January 12, 2026 or until positions are filled. Amarillo VA Health Care System, Amarillo, Texas Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive gastroenterology care for patients, with a focus on patients with hepatitis, in outpatient and inpatient settings. Coordinate activities of other health care providers; teach fellow staff, residents, medical students, and allied health professionals. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including: Colonoscopy, Polypectomy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Upper endoscopy, Esophageal banding or ligation of varices, Dilation of the esophagus (bouginage), Small bowel biopsy Maintain active medical licensure and privileges; board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology; maintain BLS certification as required by center policies. Share in responsibilities for patient care across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels; contribute to administration as assigned. Qualifications

Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship (non-citizens considered only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited per VA policy). Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved school. Current, full, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state/territory/DC. Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency program leading to eligibility for board certification; faculty appointments may require board certification for certain roles. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology. Four years post-fellowship clinical gastroenterology experience. Procedural experience: >500 EGD and >500 colonoscopies. Experience teaching residents and fellows. Other

Proficiency in English; ability to work within organizational goals and provide compassionate, effective patient care. Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Conditions of Employment

2-year probationary period with evaluation against public interest criteria; continuation requires certification in writing that continued employment advances the public interest. Education and Licensure
