The VA North Texas Health Care System is seeking to fill Physician (Psychiatrist) positions at various locations. Summary : The VA North Texas Health Care System is seeking to fill Physician (Psychiatrist) positions at various locations. Education Debt Reduction Program is authorized. Recruitment or Relocation may be available for highly qualified individuals. Duties include providing comprehensive psychiatric medical care to patients on the outpatient mental health team. The incumbent must be skilled in general outpatient psychiatry, including diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy. Core responsibilities include providing comprehensive psychiatric medical care (assessment, consultation, treatment) to patients on the outpatient mental health team. The incumbent must be competent in the management of individuals with a broad range of clinical problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and psychiatric disorders in the elderly Veteran population. The incumbent may be assigned to act as collaborating physician for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. The incumbent will be involved in supervising and teaching health care professional trainees such as medical students, psychiatry residents, and other trainees. Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1630. Light on-call responsibilities. Options may be available for alternative tours. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus) or Relocation Incentive : May be available for highly qualified individuals. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment) : Authorized. This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. Qualifications : To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. United States Citizenship : Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education : Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. License : Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training : Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Preferred Experience : ABPN or AOBNP board certified or eligible or anticipated eligibility, buprenorphine treatment experience, and experience delivering virtual care and managing related technology. Physical Requirements : Moderate lifting, 15-44 pounds; Moderate carrying, 15-44 pounds; Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (8 hours); Both legs required; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Both eyes required; Hearing (aid may be permitted); Specific hearing requirements; Mental and emotional stability.
