The janitor will contribute to the overall health and safety of employees and visitors by adhering to proper cleaning protocols and using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. This role requires a commitment to detail, reliability, and teamwork to support the smooth operation of the consumer support services environment. Ultimately, the Union Janitor helps create a professional and hygienic atmosphere that enhances employee productivity and customer satisfaction.

Hours: 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday and some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal throughout the facility.
• Sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and high-touch surfaces to maintain health and safety standards.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet cleaners in a safe and efficient manner.
• Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper in designated areas.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
• Follow all union guidelines and safety protocols while performing duties.
• Collaborate with other janitorial staff and supervisors to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed on schedule.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.
• Basic knowledge of safety regulations related to janitorial work.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
• Certification in OSHA or other relevant safety training.
