The Hazardous Waste Technician will handle, package and label hazardous and/or controlled waste in accordance with prescribed procedures and regulations. Also responsible for managing hazardous waste material in base-wide accumulation points and updating database systems as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts sampling of various drums, equipment, tanks, soil or waste piles generated from testing and maintenance processes.
  • Manages 90-day accumulation points to include the proper storage, labeling and inspection to include written records documentation requirements.
  • Coordinates the collection of waste according to procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Assists generators with waste turn in procedures to include completion of forms and data entry requirements.
  • Package, label, and handle hazardous waste/material.
  • Assists the TSDF Manager with shipping papers/records and manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience working in an industrial hazardous waste disposal operation.
  • Possess the OSHA HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour training or the ability to complete upon hire/promotion.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in MS office programs

Desired Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related discipline
