Job Summary

The Client State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (ASDB) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support students in the Blind Department in Tucson, AZ. The CNA will work closely with teachers and educational staff to assist students with daily living tasks, learning activities, and overall well-being in an educational setting.

Work Schedule

• Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Friday: 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
• Hours Per Week: 35
• Weekends: Not required
• Note: Follows school calendar; employee may be off during scheduled school breaks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing instructional objectives, behavioral strategies, and IEP (Individualized Education Plan) goals
• Provide tutoring support under teacher guidance in areas such as academics, daily living skills, and social skills in both group and individual settings
• Monitor students in the use and care of equipment to prevent injury
• Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, hygiene, and lifting as necessary
• Transport students to and from classroom activities and appointments
• Observe, document, and maintain accurate student records in accordance with Federal, State, and Agency policies
• Participate in professional development and training workshops to enhance knowledge and skills
• Perform additional related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children, especially in an educational or care setting
• Ability to work effectively with visually impaired students
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Patience, flexibility, and a team-oriented attitude

Compliance Requirements

• Active CNA certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Up-to-date immunization records or signed declination (Hepatitis B, COVID-19, etc.)
