Pay information
Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $17.00/hr.

Job summary
AFW proudly participates in preserving the environment by recycling as much material as possible. The Recycling Associate is responsible for processing material to be recycled. The Recycling Associate will operate and clean The Runi/Strautmann (Styrofoam Recycling Machine), The Card Board Bailer, The Plastic/Foam Bailer, and the Trash Shredder. The Recycling Associate will stage the processed material onto pallets and safely prepare the pallets to be shipped. All training provided by AFW. Pay: $17/hour PLUS Weekend, Afternoon, and Night Shift Premiums.
Responsibilities
- Process plastic, foam, cardboard and styrofoam to be recycled.
- Inspect materials to ensure they are free of tape, packaging boards, and other debris prior to processing.
- Operate and maintain recycling equipment and ensure bails are bailed safely and ready for transport.
- Move bails onto pallets and transport for shipping using a forklift or pallet jack.
- Process all non-recyclable material as required.
- Clean and maintain equipment and the work area; periodically empty trash cans.
- Maintain the bail storage area and assist with snow removal (for Colorado stores) to keep walkways safe.
- Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on recycling equipment.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to keep grounds and building clean to AFW standards.
- Report equipment issues and potential liabilities with recommendations to AFW management.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision and maintain a neat, safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Ability to be trained on the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Prior experience operating warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, cherry picker) is helpful but not required.
- Ability to be trained on Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and perform LOTO as required.
- Ability to work 0 to 35 feet above the ground.
- Ability to become certified to operate warehouse equipment.
- Flexible schedule; ability to work all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
Physical requirements
- Ability to maneuver in confined and congested areas.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for 8 hours or more daily.
- Constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
- Ability to lift, lower, push and pull equipment up to 100 lbs. frequently.
- Position requires lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, and moving equipment 8 hours or more daily.
Work environment
- Fluorescent lighting and concrete flooring.
- Climate affected by outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Considerable exterior noise and extreme temperature fluctuations in the warehouse.
Pre-employment: A pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment background check must be passed upon job offer.
