$165,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr Director of Accounts Payable Dallas, TX - hybrid, 3 days onsite Vaco is working with one of our Fortune 500, publicly-traded clients ($10B+ in revenue) to find an AP Director with a strong process improvement background. This role will have 2 direct reports with an overall team size of 10 rolling up to them. The company recently completed a large system implementation and is working through several process and transformation initiatives; they need someone who has previous experience guiding teams through change. Compensation: $165k + bonus + LTIP Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, vendor payments, expense reports, and compliance. Develop, implement, and continuously improve AP policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal standards. Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging technology (ERP systems, workflow tools, AI/automation solutions) to optimize efficiency and scalability. Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Accounting, Treasury, and Operations teams to streamline procure-to-pay processes. Oversee vendor management, including vendor onboarding, terms negotiation, and resolution of payment discrepancies. Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure compliance with tax regulations (1099/withholding) and internal audit requirements. Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing AP team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Support month-end close activities, accruals, and reporting requirements related to AP. Serve as the subject matter expert and champion for AP best practices, process excellence, and technology adoption. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. 10+ years of progressive AP or accounting operations experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong expertise in process improvement, automation, and financial systems transformation (ERP experience required; SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite preferred). Proven track record of implementing AP process enhancements and driving measurable efficiency gains. Deep knowledge of GAAP, SOX, and regulatory compliance requirements.
