Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CapEx Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting, tracking, and reporting of capital expenditure across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate classification, capitalization, and depreciation of fixed assets in accordance with U.S. GAAP, as well as partnering cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, procurement, and IT to support project planning and compliance. Responsibilities
Oversee end-to-end accounting for capital expenditures, including asset additions, disposals, transfers, impairments, and depreciation. Ensure proper application of U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies for capitalization, including distinguishing CapEx vs OpEx. Collaborate with project managers, engineering, facilities, and procurement teams to track project spend and validate project completion and asset readiness. Manage the monthly close process for fixed assets, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. Monitor construction-in-progress (CIP) balances and ensure timely capitalization of completed assets. Review project budgets and actuals to ensure alignment with approved CapEx plans. Develop and maintain capital asset tracking systems and workflows for asset tagging and inventory management. Partner with external auditors to support audit and controls related to fixed assets and CapEx processes. Lead system and process improvements to increase automation, accuracy, and transparency in capital accounting. Prepare and support capital expenditure reporting to lenders and internal stakeholders. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent strongly preferred. 8+ years of relevant accounting experience, including big 4 audit experiences and at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 360 (Property, Plant & Equipment) and fixed asset capitalization rules. Knowledge of construction accounting or project-based accounting practices. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and construction management system (i.e. Autodesk). Advanced Excel and analytical skills; ability to work with large datasets. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive business-partner mindset. Experience in construction, or infrastructure industries. Preferred Skills
Prior experience in a SOX-compliant environment. Ability to streamline and scale capital accounting processes in a fast-paced, growing organization. Seniorit y level
