Role Overview The Senior Data Scientist leverages advanced analytics and the scientific method to uncover insights from complex data sets, including behavioral, time series, structured, and unstructured data. This role leads the development and implementation of data science solutions that inform strategic decisions working in close partnership with cross functional teams - such as data engineers, business analysts, and business stakeholders - this role proactively identifies opportunities, designs and validates models using statistical and machine learning techniques, and translates analytical findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences including non-technical stakeholders. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist provides mentorship to junior team members and champions best practices in analytics and model deployment. Duties & Responsibilities Lead the cleaning and preparation of complex data from diverse sources to ensure data quality and readiness for advanced analysis Design and implement statistical models to solve business problems and drive business decisions Collaborate with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams to translate strategic objectives into data-driven solutions Apply advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques to optimize customer experience, revenue, operations, and other key outcomes Conduct advanced statistical analysis to provide actionable insights, identify trends, and measure performance Create clear, compelling visualizations and narratives to communicate complex insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders Stay current on emerging data science methodologies, tools, and technologies; evaluate and propose innovative approaches Establish efficient, automated processes for model development, model validation, model implementation, and large-scale data analysis Business Strategy Insights Translate complex business data into strategic insights that inform planning, product development, and decision-making Conduct root cause analyses and uncover key trends to address critical business challenges and opportunities Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison to product teams, ensuring insights are embedded into decision-making across the organization Partner with internal stakeholders to analyze and interpret market data, supporting more effective product positioning and marketing strategies Champion a culture of analytics by combining business acumen with compelling storytelling and visualization to drive action and alignment across teams Training and Mentorship Mentor junior members of the analytics & insights team to elevate overall team capability and maturity in data science Foster a culture of continuous learning and contribute to the establishment of best practices in model development, testing, and monitoring Experience & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or related field Master's Degree (Preferred) Experience 5+ years experience utilizing descriptive, predictive and/or prescriptive analytics to provide business insights; Experience with data mining, mathematics and statistical analysis; Experience with applied data science and predictive analytics using large/complex data sets Software/Technical Skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including macro skills) Applied statistics (general, probability, sampling, Bayesian, etc.) Coding (R, Python, C/C++) Algorithms and Models (regression, ensemble, decision trees, clustering, etc.) Databases (SQL, NoSQL) Frameworks and Libraries (TensorFlow, scikit-learn, xgboost, panadas, etc.) Data Processing (Hadoop, Spark, Alteryx) (Preferred) Knowledge of Visualization Tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) (Preferred) Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Strong communication skills (verbal & written) across all levels of the business Ability to translate data into understandable documents and present findings to internal stakeholders Business and financial acumen to translate data points into key measures and insights Ability to define complex technical terms clearly that resonate with non-technical audiences Cross functional teamwork - comfortable working with data engineers, business analysts, and management teams on broader strategic goals Ability to operate without fully defined structures and identify improvement initiatives Additional Details For This Role This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. Base Salary The targeted base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000 per year. Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data. The base salary accounts for the entirety of the on-target earnings for this role. No additional incentives or variable pay are applicable.
