AMETEK
The Senior Accountant is a hands-on finance professional responsible for a range of operational and accounting duties requiring independent judgment. This role supports both the AMT US Accounting Manager and the Sunpower Business Manager. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, and has a solid understanding of manufacturing and government contract accounting.
FINANCIAL INTEGRITY & COMPLIANCE
Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
Complete ASC 606 checklists and book revenue and COGS
Complete annual tax packages, labor surveys, and insurance requests
Support SOX compliance: reconciliations, testing, narratives, and remediation
Interface with internal and external auditors
OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTING & REPORTING
Prepare variance analysis to budget, prior quarter, and year
Forecast weekly sales & margin, working capital, unbilled, and deferred revenue
Assist with annual budget and monthly rolling forecast
Maintain inventory records; coordinate cycle counts and annual physical inventory
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis
BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP & COMMUNICATION
Review engineering sales proposals, contracts, and cost templates
Partner with site General Manager and operational leaders to support growth
Collaborate with parent company on AR, AP, fixed assets, cost accounting, and order management
Communicate financial insights across teams
GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTING & SYSTEMS EXECUTION - Willingness to learn and become the subject matter expert/SME
Support government accounting and project modules
Prepare milestone and cost-plus invoices for government contracts
Forecast and prepare annual government indirect rates
Support government audits
Use ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, HFM) and Excel for financial processes
POSITION REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in operational accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or government contract environment
Familiarity with ASC 606, SOX compliance, and ERP systems
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
Exposure to SOX compliance and internal control frameworks
Ability to perform financial forecasting, cost analysis, and variance reporting
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Office-based role with regular interaction across operations, engineering, and business management
Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas and inventory processes
