Overview

Experienced Professional, Project Accounting role in Portland, OR. Responsible for providing accounting and financial support to one or more Project Managers and project teams, ensuring project data is current, budgets are maintained, and financial documentation and reporting meet industry standards. Responsibilities

Manage and analyze the collection, recording, and allocation of project costs and revenue for assigned projects, ensuring accurate profit and loss and communicating financial performance to project/program management. Handle lifecycle project accounting from creating project accounts in Oracle to tracking budgets, validating invoicing, project close-out, and reconciling payables/receivables to budgets. Perform detailed accounting tasks related to managing project contracts, billing events, and billing transactions for medium-sized to moderately complex projects. Collaborate with the Project Manager and project team to establish and update the project budget and make recommendations when contracts or budgets change. Generate and review project financial reports, escalating items such as labor variances to the Project Manager as needed. Authorize access to project accounts and manage transfers of expenses in compliance with accounting practices and guidelines. Maintain quality control standards for project financial records using Oracle, spreadsheets, and related tools. Apply accounting expertise to project resources, labor, and expenses; investigate variances and submit variance reports to management. Verify contract and change order characteristics, interpret contract language, methods of compensation, modifications, purchase orders, and subcontract terms. Monitor indicators for at-risk projects and keep project managers informed of concerns. Ensure draft invoices align with contract requirements; obtain necessary documentation and signatures; finalize and submit invoices to clients. Coordinate subcontract management with Contract Administrators, evaluate subconsultant invoices, manage purchase orders, and follow up on subcontractor payments with Accounts Payable. Identify and pursue unpaid contract billings and delinquent accounts receivable or unbilled costs. Respond to client requests for detail, investigate unbilled expenses, and review/approve project billings. Attend project meetings to communicate financial status and follow up on actions. Prepare and submit government reports related to projects. Compile information for review by Senior Consultants and auditors as required. Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients. Stay current on project accounting principles and adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct and policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related discipline (or demonstrated equivalent experience). 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in accounting, project contracts, and change management. Working knowledge of project accounting principles and their application to project work-related issues. Analytical mindset with the ability to exercise independent judgment on financial matters. Ability to coordinate with stakeholders on contract and project requirements. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for accounting and non-accounting audiences. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Ability to learn new techniques and comply with company policies; proficient in MS Excel and accounting software, including data analysis and reporting tools. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for data analysis and decision-making. Awareness of and adherence to WSP USA’s Project Delivery Handbook. Ability to work beyond typical hours when necessary and willingness to travel occasionally based on project needs. Preferred Qualifications

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $65,300.00 - $111,980.00. Colorado: $65,300.00 - $105,160.00. WSP reserves the right to adjust pay based on factors including location and experience.
