Summary

Originate, process, and service the credit needs of businesses, consumers, and professionals within the marketplace and maintain and solicit related depository accounts and other fee-generating services.

Provide support to all retail and Treasury Management functions; maintain a working knowledge of all operational functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Servicing the credit needs of customers and prospects, requiring visits; obtaining financial and other information; performing or coordinating credit analysis; making loan presentations and recommending approval to Bank Loan Committee where required; negotiating terms and conditions such as rates, collateral, guarantees, loan agreements, and other documentation.

Apply ongoing administration and review of the credit until ultimate collection, including ongoing monitoring and grading of credit.

Detect potential problems and apply techniques of problem loan administration.

Although Loan Committee review may be required prior to approval of certain loans, a high degree of reliance is placed on the judgement of the loan officer; the loan officer is fully responsible for the loan.

Manage the daily operations of a commercial loan portfolio, including credit quality, compliance with bank policies and applicable laws, and management of past due loans. Portfolio may include consumer credits as well.

In conjunction with Community Bank Presidents, provide oversight and guidance to both commercial and consumer banking officers.

Act as relationship manager for assigned customers, ensuring customer satisfaction and the resolution of service problems for all bank products.

Expand the customer base through networking and sales calls; solicit business from non-borrowing customers as well as loan customers; maintain product knowledge to generate credit, deposit, and fee business.

Participate in community involvement activities to enhance the Bank's visibility, image, and reputation.

Deliver service quality as defined by department standards.

Maintain National Mortgage Licensing Systems (NMLS) registration under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other banking regulations and policies.

Maintain knowledge of all retail and treasury management banking functions; provide support as needed, including transaction and exception approvals (deposits, wires, temporary limit increases, etc.).

Makes referrals to Financial Services for clients seeking investment options not provided by the Bank.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Banking Officer I

1 year of experience in consumer/retail or commercial lending and/or collections, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Banking Officer II

Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial lending; ability to analyze credit and underwrite risk for commercial lines loans; portfolio size typically $5M–$20M; may manage a consumer loan portfolio; duties with some guidance.

Banking Officer III

Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial lending; advanced relationship management, business development, credit analysis, presentation, and underwriting; portfolio typically $10M–$30M; minimal guidance.

Banking Officer IV

Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial lending; highly developed skills in relationship management, credit analysis, presentation, and underwriting; ability to manage complex credits and negotiations.
