The Pilot Plant Manager will lead the operations of the Process Technology Center (PTC) pilot plant, responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing new products and manufacturing processes for reliable scale-up from laboratory to commercial production. They will drive operational excellence and compliance with regulatory and Company standards, lead Global Activity Grid projects, and support base business and global initiatives. The role supports Oral Care (OC), Personal Care (PC) and Skin Health (SH) and integrates continuous improvement initiatives and Corporate Sustainability Strategies, while exploring new technology, digitization and automation, and related programs.

Responsibilities Manage all pilot plant operations and projects, ensuring safety and quality standards and alignment with global business objectives.

Lead, motivate, coach and develop a team of 10+ direct reports; allocate and manage pilot plant resources to support operations, projects and continuous improvement.

Ensure excellence in Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Environmental Affairs, Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) and Factory Performance and Reliability (FP&R); monitor progress on system implementations.

Lead, develop and update the pilot plant strategic plan and roadmap based on operational requirements and capital investments.

Identify, execute and manage Capital Budget Expenditure (CEB); plan, coordinate and monitor projects within budget and scope and without safety incidents.

Build cross-functional partnerships to enable smooth transition of innovation from development to market.

Communicate timely updates with stakeholders on plans, priorities, progress, challenges and required support.

Identify and implement continuous improvement plans to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.

Promote safe behaviors, environmental stewardship, and a continuous improvement mindset; champion new initiatives.

Develop and approve the pilot plant operation expense budget and manage spending within approved limits.

Serve as a key interface with external partners (R&D, Veolia, Sodexo) to support daily activities and maintain infrastructure.

Oversee and ensure creation and adherence of the pilot plant production schedule; coordinate with R&D and Global PD&I; escalate exceptions as needed.

Oversee raw material management, storage and waste disposal with internal and external stakeholders.

Oversee maintenance of pilot plant equipment, water systems and other critical utilities; coordinate maintenance teams for corrective and preventive maintenance.

Ensure pilot plant is available for validation of formula and process robustness and Key Release Specification with local materials and manufacturing after Development completes formula robustness.

Maintain accurate documentation including notebooks, SOPs, claims dossiers, bundle books, and records of experiments, processes and results.

Required Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology).

5+ years of experience in Engineering or Operations, or equivalent field.

Experience as a people leader or with influencing large cross-functional teams.

Consumer Goods Industry Experience.

Preferred Qualifications Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology).

Experience in manufacturing sites as operations or engineering leader; familiarity with GMP and FDA requirements for consumer products operation.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple cross-functional initiatives and stakeholders.

Knowledge of production equipment.

Compensation And Benefits

Salary Range $120,000.00 - $168,500.00 USD Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) plan with company matching contributions. Includes a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive at least 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays. Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location per local laws. Details provided upon hire and may be subject to policy changes.
