The Pilot Plant Manager will lead the operations of the Process Technology Center (PTC) pilot plant, developing, testing, and optimizing new products and manufacturing processes for reliable scale-up from laboratory to commercial production. This role drives operational excellence and regulatory compliance, supports Global Activity Grid projects, and enables growth through use of the pilot plant for Oral Care, Personal Care, and Skin Health initiatives. It also advances continuous improvement, digitization, automation, and sustainability programs. Responsibilities

Manage all pilot plant operations and projects, ensuring safety, quality, and alignment with global business objectives. Lead and develop a team of 10+ direct reports; foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Allocate resources and manage projects and continuous improvement initiatives according to department priorities. Ensure adherence to Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Environmental Affairs, Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS), and Factory Performance and Reliability (FP&R) standards; monitor implementation progress. Develop and update the pilot plant strategic plan and roadmap based on operational requirements and capital investments. Identify, execute, and manage Capital Budget Expenditure (CEB); plan and monitor approved projects for timely completion within budget and scope and without safety incidents. Build cross-functional partnerships to enable smooth technology transfer from development to market. Communicate plans, priorities, progress, challenges, and support needs to stakeholders in a timely manner. Identify and implement continuous improvement plans to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Promote safe behaviors, environmental responsibility, quality commitment, and a continuous improvement mindset; champion new initiatives. Develop and approve the pilot plant operation expense budget and manage actual spending within approved guidelines. Interface with external partners (e.g., R&D, Veolia, Sodexo) to support daily activities and maintain infrastructure. Oversee production scheduling with Product Development, Implementation & Support, Process Development & Innovation to support Grid and FTG projects; escalate scheduling exceptions as needed. Oversee raw material management, including ordering, storage, and waste disposal with appropriate stakeholders. Oversee maintenance of pilot plant equipment, water systems, and utilities; coordinate maintenance teams for corrective and preventive actions. Ensure pilot plant readiness for formula and process validation, ensuring robustness and Key Release Specification with local materials and manufacturing after development completes. Maintain accurate documentation (notebooks, SOPs, claims dossiers, bundle books, experiment records, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology). 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Operations, or a related field. Experience leading or influencing large cross-functional teams. Consumer Goods industry experience. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Biotechnology). Experience as an operations or engineering leader in manufacturing sites; familiarity with GMP and FDA requirements for consumer products operations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong organizational ability to manage multiple cross-functional initiatives and stakeholders. Knowledge of production equipment. Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $120,000.00 – $168,500.00 USD. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and location. Eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for executive roles. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and a 401(k) plan with company matching, subject to eligibility. Vacation and holidays: a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays; sick leave varies by role and location in accordance with local laws.
