Overview VP of Purchasing and Operations will oversee manufacturing, procurement, and supply chain operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, optimizing procurement strategies, and ensuring high-quality production and delivery of chemical products. The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience in manufacturing operations and supply chain management, particularly within the chemical industry.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

10 years of experience in operations and purchasing leadership, ideally in the chemical manufacturing industry.

Extensive knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and inventory optimization.

Proven success in driving operational improvements, process optimization, and leveraging technology to enhance production and supply chain performance.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

Experience managing budgets, analyzing financial data, and making informed decisions.

Preferred: Experience in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute strategies for purchasing and operations that align with the company’s growth objectives, optimizing production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and product delivery.

Operational Management:

Oversee production planning, scheduling, capacity utilization, quality control, and inventory management to meet customer demand and ensure high-quality standards.

Procurement & Supply Chain Management:

Lead procurement efforts, including supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and sourcing of raw materials and packaging. Manage inventory levels and mitigate risks associated with raw material availability and price fluctuations.

Process Improvement & Innovation:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes, reduce waste, and enhance profitability.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA) and enforce safety protocols and quality control standards.

Team Leadership & Development:

Lead and mentor a high-performing team within operations and purchasing, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Financial Management:

Manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals. Monitor costs and make data-driven decisions to optimize spending and capital expenditures.
