Global Derivatives Technology develops and supports xTrader, CIBC's cross-asset portfolio management platform. xTrader is a suite of .NET applications that feeds the bank's finance, regulatory, and risk management systems. CIBC's Capital Markets division provides integrated global markets products and services, investment banking advisory and execution, corporate banking and top-ranked research to corporate, government and institutional clients. Our business is growing in the United States, where we recently launched a convertible bond trading desk, an environmental products business, and an expanded prime services franchise. What You'll Be Doing
Diagnose and resolve technical problems with xTrader and other applications used in Capital Markets. Escalate issues to internal developers, external vendors, or to our infrastructure partners. Provide timely updates to the affected traders and to technology managers. Gather business requirements, for example in anticipation of trading a new product. Liaise with the business analyst and project management teams. Act as an advocate for the front office in discussions with the broader technology team. Apply Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices for incident, change, and problem management. Manage major incidents in collaboration with CIBC's Enterprise Incident Management team. Support spreadsheet-based market data and pricing processes. Test new application functionality before release. Oversee operations team and vendors during application releases. Build strong working relationships with traders, the broader technology team, and external vendors. Document processes and recurring issues. Share knowledge within the team.
How You'll Succeed
This is a challenging role that requires strong technical skills, an interest in capital markets, and the ability to work in a fast-paced trade floor environment. While your background should provide a solid foundation, we'll provide formal training, coaching, and networking opportunities to help you succeed.
Who You Are – Technical Skills
Knowledge of financial mathematics, derivative pricing, and risk management (Greeks). Experience with commodities and equity derivatives would be relevant. Familiarity with the lifecycle of a derivative trade including pricing, confirmation, clearing, and settlement. Experience with market data, particularly Bloomberg, would be valuable. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#. Broad technical knowledge of Windows or Linux. Understanding of TCP/IP networking. Experience with relational databases and SQL. Experience with an object database like MongoDB is a plus. Experience with ITIL, including incident, problem, and change management tools (e.g., ServiceNow). Experience with software testing and issue management using JIRA. Familiarity with application monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace or ITRS Geneos). Experience with the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering and testing. Post-secondary degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, finance, or another analytical discipline is required. CFA or FRM designation would be an advantage. Values matter to you. $150,000- $180,000, based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. This role may be eligible for incentive compensation.
