The role of Associate Director, Planning System Lead is a hybrid role and can be located in Spring House, PA; Raritan, NJ; or Titusville, NJ.

The Associate Director, Planning System Lead will serve as a key partner and point of contact driving process improvements and standard methodologies in Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) planning. This role focuses on enhancing operational planning and forecasting efficiency, ensuring high data quality across the organization, and addressing data gaps to drive informed decision-making. You will partner with Functional Leads, Project Managers and Clinical Forecasting to identify innovative solutions and capabilities that drive consistency and standardization with end-to-end PPM systems and processes. You will provide insights to the Portfolio Performance and Resourcing (PPR) teams to expand planning insights used to inform Senior Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead initiatives to improve portfolio planning system processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Support the development of portfolio data quality metrics to foster continuous improvement.

Lead data quality efforts, identifying gaps, and prioritizing data management initiatives.

Partner with business teams to implement process improvements and technology solutions that elevate operational data integrity.

Apply data quality metrics to track progress and support informed decision-making.

Act as a Project Manager to increase transparency of planning initiatives, leading timelines, resources, and risks.

Drive standardization of planning activity definitions across JJ IM TAs and Global Development partners.

Collaborate with PPR teams to develop and refine planning insights for senior leadership.

The Associate Director, Planning System Lead, will also support the Business Product Owner of Planisware (E7) and the User Community Tool (UCT) Planning products. This includes recommendations on new capabilities and/or improvements to current systems, coordinating UAT, training and adoption in partnership with Portfolio Solutions and IT. This role reinforces planning data quality via metrics, communication, and process reinforcement to the Planning community to maintain a high degree of portfolio project data integrity.

Principal Responsibilities

Lead and implement capability and process improvement initiatives to advance best planning practices for JJ IM stakeholders. Act as Portfolio and Project Manager of all Planning Initiatives by tracking and identifying risks in meeting milestone deliverables.

Provide leadership and support to the Business Product Owner of the User Community Tool (UCT) and Planisware (E7), including leading UAT, training and adoption of new processes.

Reinforce Data Quality Planning Metrics and Reporting capabilities. Act as a liaison for Project Managers to drive accountability in correcting data errors.

Be part of the Operational Data Governance Council to assure data accuracy with downstream systems.

Ensure and drive consistency and standardization with Planning activity definitions.

Participate in continuous improvement to our planning capabilities and processes and provide input into the operating model to optimize planning/forecasting.

Proactively build and maintain internal and occasional external relationships that support the Business Product Owner (UCT and E7).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in a scientific or business discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum 8 years of experience with a pharmaceutical company or CRO.

Expertise in drug development, financial operations, and strategic planning.

Project management experience required.

PMI PMP certification preferred.

Experience leading diverse teams in direct and matrixed environments preferred.

Experience with information systems (Planisware, SAP/SEM, CTMS, Ariba, Power BI) highly preferred.

Strong understanding of the financial aspects of clinical operations preferred.

Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills; strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to lead multiple projects; travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Compensation and Benefits The anticipated base pay range for U.S. locations is $137,000 to $235,750. Bonuses and additional compensation are described in company guidelines and plans. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and other programs, as well as retirement planning options (401(k) or equivalent).
