Maintenance Manager at USALCO. This role leads maintenance operations to support USALCO’s Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) strategy, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability of production assets. Reports to the Plant Manager with dotted-line alignment to the Corporate M&R Manager. Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager leads standardized, proactive, and sustainable maintenance practices at the site level in alignment with USALCO’s M&R roadmap. The role oversees maintenance operations, coaches the site maintenance team, and collaborates cross-functionally to execute the site’s preventive maintenance strategy, manage the work order process in the CMMS, monitor KPIs, and support TPM deployment. Responsibilities
Lead the site maintenance team (mechanical, electrical, I&E) in line with USALCO’s skills matrix and training programs. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, safety leadership, and SHE&Q adherence. Coordinate in-house maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance execution. Own the execution and optimization of the site’s Preventive Maintenance (PM) program and ensure PM work orders are completed on time; partner with operators for autonomous maintenance where applicable. Identify opportunities to reduce reactive maintenance and extend asset life. Manage the site work order process using the MaintainX CMMS, ensuring quality data (failure codes, time tracking, root causes) and weekly scheduling with site leadership. Lead maintenance planning and scheduling aligned with production demands; develop job plans for critical tasks. Track and report site-level M&R KPIs (PM Compliance, Work Order Closeout Time, MTBF, MTTR, % Reactive vs. Proactive); conduct RCA and drive corrective actions for reliability improvements. Manage the maintenance budget (labor, parts, contract services, capital replacement) and identify cost-saving opportunities; ensure resources align with financial goals. Collaborate with Plant Leadership, Corporate M&R, SHE&Q, Engineering, Projects, and CI teams; participate in corporate M&R network activities to share best practices. Year 1 Success Metrics
Within the first 12 months, collaboratively achieve outcomes across Leadership & Culture, Maintenance Program Assessment, Preventive Maintenance Execution, WPM & CMMS Use, Asset Reliability & Continuous Improvement, Budget Management & Cost Control, and Collaboration & Strategic Alignment. Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in industrial settings. Hands-on experience with CMMS (MaintainX preferred). Experience managing maintenance budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead, coach, and develop maintenance personnel per a skills matrix. Strong interpersonal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and specs. Familiarity with TPM, RCM, or other reliability-focused methodologies. Experience using maintenance KPIs (e.g., PM compliance, MTBF, MTTR) to drive performance. Ability to lead planning meetings and job scope discussions. Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical), Maintenance Management, or related field. Preferred: Certification in Maintenance & Reliability (e.g., CMRP, CMM, SMRP). Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or operations within an industrial manufacturing environment. Minimum 2 years in maintenance leadership or supervisory role. Minimum 2 years of CMMS/system experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and mechanical integrity programs (where applicable).
