Site Manager, MEP (Data Center/Mission Critical) role at Gray MEP Site Manager studies the mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing and fire protection specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of start and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction. Assist MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval of MEP Project Manager. Assist in the development of MEP project schedule within the entire construction schedule. Prepare estimates in areas of MEP self-performed work, and assist in complete project estimate. Individual possesses the ability to assist in coordination/management of all trades throughout build process. Assist in selection of qualified bidders and negotiate final prices. Assist in the preparation of various reports, e.g. cost to complete, monthly billings and status reports. Review all drawings, e.g. P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, Shop, Architectural, Structural, etc. when issued to the field and coordinate and maintain a current set at all times. Assist in pricing work, draft changes and change orders to be reviewed by MEP Project Manager. Assist in ensuring customer satisfaction with the project. Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion. Schedule work, including subcontractors. Assist in the productivity and quantity tracking of the subcontractors installed work. Determine materials, equipment and tools needed; secure appropriate supply sources. Set up and close out construction site. Serve as on-site Safety Officer when one is not specifically assigned to the project, and participate in the company’s safety portion of the QMS program. Responsible for procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules. Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating phases of construction to prevent delays. Consult with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within the work force. Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports and/or direction from MEP Project Manager. Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance with company, industry standards, and job specifications. Ensure compliance with Gray’s QMS program and generate reports and traceability for continuous improvement. Communicate, implement and enforce Gray’s safety program on site. Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience OR a minimum 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree. Industry experience working with data centers and/or mission critical facilities is preferred. 5+ years of experience in electrical construction supervision is highly desired. Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents. Strong people management skills. Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), tablets and smartphones. MS Project and other scheduling software a plus. Must possess a strong work ethic and be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, with a passion for collaboration and professional development. Must possess the ability to think independently and manage without direction. This position requires travel; projects are scattered throughout the United States and, in some cases, outside of the U.S. The selected candidate can live anywhere in the USA but would be required to travel to project sites per Gray’s travel policy. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The team member is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is generally moderate to loud. Overtime may be required. Supervisory Responsibilities
May lead multiple subordinate supervisors and other support staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
