Program hours of operation:
1:00 PM – 5:00/6:00 PM (varies per location)
Locations:
LAUSD (SFV, South LA, South Gate, Huntington Park, West LA/Westwood), Garvey Elementary School District (Rosemead/San Gabriel/Monterey Park), Green Dot Public Schools (LA), Inner City Education Foundation (View Park), Aspire Public Schools, Brightstar Schools, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, Lennox School District (Lennox), Pomona Unified School District (Pomona) and Claremont Unified School District (Claremont).
Who We Are Woodcraft Rangers opened its doors in Los Angeles in 1922 and works to guide young people toward purposeful lives. The program is inclusive, youth-led, and rooted in the Woodcraft Way, a holistic framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, enrichment, and summer learning, with a broader menu of services today.
Job Summary Club Leaders are responsible for ensuring a fun and positive learning environment for club participants and will support clubs of approximately 20 children. Club leaders work with a site coordinator and a community liaison. All staff can choose between working in school sites, sleepaway camp, or both. This is an on-site position, including attending training at the Woodcraft Rangers main office in Little Tokyo and school sites.
Responsibilities
Ensure students are in a safe environment (physically and emotionally). Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for participants, staff, and families
Develop and lead age-appropriate program activities that are FUN, engaging and aligned with a whole-child approach (social emotional learning, skill building, self-esteem, leadership, etc.). WR provides an activity catalog
Monitor participant attendance and engagement
Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders
Collaborate to develop culminating activities or events
Request materials in a timely manner to ensure availability within budget
Comply with safety requirements and emergency protocols; maintain up-to-date trainings and certifications
May be required to attend off-site field trips
Maintain and submit student attendance daily
Participate in staff development trainings (approximately 15 hours over spring weekends/intersessional days)
Accountable to the Site Coordinator and Program Manager for assigned duties
Other related duties as assigned

Requirements
Experience in expanded learning programs or youth recreational facilities
Minimum High School Diploma or GED (AA in Child Development or related field preferred); prior experience with K-12 groups preferred
Ability to work well with young children and/or youth
Strong oral and written communication
Computer literacy and willingness to learn
Valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance, and CPR Certification
Must pass an assessment evaluating math, reading, and spelling skills
Physical Demands The job requires standing, using hands, talking, hearing, and may require lifting up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
Work Environment The work environment includes regular computer use and typical office/school setting conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential functions.
