Overview
Assistant Store Manager - Famous Footwear. Full-time role leading in the absence of the Store Manager. You are passionate about providing the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You are a people leader who motivates a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals, supports an in-store culture where customers feel confident in their purchase, stays up to date on trends, and loves shoes to help every customer feel the Famous Feeling. What you’ll be doing is guided by the responsibilities below to help the store operate effectively and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
What You’ll Be Doing
Inspire the Customer Connection: foster a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery of service. Infuse coaching moments for selling behaviors that reinforce Customer Connection.
Champion Talent Discovery: actively seek out external talent, collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about delivering top-notch customer experiences.
Ace Retail Operations & Staffing: manage store operations (pricing, shipping processing, inventory) and support staffing levels aligned with Store Manager guidance and staffing needs.
Leverage Insights to Deliver Results: take accountability for location performance, drive sales, and apply insights to improve results in partnership with the Store Manager.
Be a Culture Builder: promote diversity and inclusivity, maintain a positive mindset, and lead by example to support retention and performance.
Be the Store Manager’s Right Hand: when the Store Manager is away, step into leadership, ensure policy compliance, and develop internal talent in collaboration with the Store Manager.
Essential Functions Other responsibilities may be performed as needed to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications & Education
Has a High School Diploma/GED.
At least 1 year of sales experience (retail preferred).
Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels.
Ability to train and develop associates to provide engaging customer experiences and execute operational tasks.
Exercises independent judgment partnering with the Store Sales Manager as needed.
Strong cognitive skills including problem solving, decision making, and basic financial analysis.
Knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements And/or Environment
Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height with proper equipment and safety techniques.
Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Mobility on the sales floor for extended periods.
