Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. Primary duty is to provide strategic national focus positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director leads CM business development, project delivery, and group leadership/communications. Reports to WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities
Business Development:
Maintain market intelligence regarding industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/or new hires. Capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees. Ensure regions maintain CM pursuit target lists and Client Maintenance plans. Support capture planning, preproposal activities, qualifications and proposal preparation to standardize HDR CM business development and client interaction. Provide marketing support on pursuits to improve HDR’s selection hit rate. Maintain list of major CM/PM/CA projects. Maintain toolkit and SharePoint sites; promote best practices/tools across the Business Group. Implement presentation/interview training workshops for Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery:
Capture/disseminate relevant CM delivery lessons learned. Ensure use of HDR best practices, templates and protocols for consistent CM delivery coast to coast. Collaborate with other Directors on delivery of existing projects and long-term tactical plans for the water construction services program. Provide principal-level project management and issue resolution. Track actual costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development. Maintain CM/CI resources and provide CM resource planning. Lead PARR reviews for projects entering construction; train staff to be Lead Reviewers; attend reviews as needed. Perform occasional site audits; promote RAKEN Field Reporting App and update HDR Guidelines; manage licenses and seat renewals. Promote and administer Newforma CA; coordinate with related contacts. Serve as WBG point of contact on CMIS questions. Update and maintain HDR Construction Management Manual, procedures, forms, and field checklists; ensure CM access/use across the group. Leadership & Communications:
Reinvigorate CM Practice Community; plan and conduct regular CM calls and broadcast wins and lessons learned. Collaborate with Field Services Communications Director, other CM Directors, SH&E Director, Client Development Lead, Project Controls Director, and Steering Committee. Lead CMAA engagement; represent HDR on CMAA Board of Directors; coordinate dues, sponsorships, and nominations; maintain CCM designation awareness among HDR staff. Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years of experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry. PE or related professional certifications desirable. This position can be located in any US HDR office. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field. Minimum 10 years of related experience. Professional registration and relevant technical experience. Experience in development and management of diverse teams. Ability to work cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
