Summary: Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus High School is seeking a Geometry Teacher for a 1-year defined term position for the 25-26 school year, with full employee benefits. The mission is to educate Native Hawaiian children and align daily practices with the E Ola! learner outcomes and values.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate academic competence in the geometry/related subject area and contribute to integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum.
Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and professional development.
Demonstrate self-efficacy and accountability for learner outcomes; advocate for students and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
Facilitate problem-solving with data-driven curriculum and practice.
Model innovative and ongoing professional growth; stay on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance student performance and learning.
Promote global competence and extend learning beyond the classroom to families and communities.
Support learners’ well-being, recognizing the link between social-emotional learning and academics.
Design and facilitate differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities aligned to instructional outcomes.
Education and Experience
Required: An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the listed requirements. Bachelor’s degree (degrees and course credits from an accredited college or university).
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in area related to primary instructional responsibilities; Master’s or doctoral degrees in the primary instructional area.
Knowledge of age-appropriate instructional strategies (differentiated instruction, project-based learning, personalized learning).
Ability to utilize or develop current technology applications for classroom use.
Recent teaching experience or coursework in the primary instructional areas; 5+ years of instruction preferred.
Experience with athletics or performing arts, music or arts, and knowledge of social justice/global issues, sustainability, Hawaiian language/history/culture, and Christian values.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the subject area and ability to develop interdisciplinary curriculum.
Age-appropriate instructional methods and ability to develop positive relationships with students and families.
Ability to differentiate and personalize instruction; manage groups; communicate effectively with students, parents, counselors, and administrators.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and work as part of a team; organize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
Licenses, Certifications or Registration
Teaching credentials appropriate for the level of students being taught (preferred).
Demonstrated knowledge of current age-appropriate instructional strategies.
Physical Requirements
Frequent movement around the classroom; ability to perform desk-based tasks and lift up to 20 pounds.
Working Conditions
Classroom environment; may require work in non-standard learning environments. Typically Monday–Friday; some evening and weekend hours may be required. Travel for staff or curriculum development may be required.
Benefits
Pay range: $61,111.00 – $160,818.00. Compensation is determined by factors including work year, degree, and relevant experience. KS offers a Total Rewards Program focusing on well-being and comprehensive benefits. Specific placement on the pay scale will be detailed in the offer.
