Residential Step Down - On-Call Recovery Coach
HealthRIGHT360 provides care for people in need, including primary medical care, mental health services, and substance use disorder treatment. HealthRIGHT 360 offers residential treatment services designed to serve individuals and families with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our program helps clients address addiction and related issues, increase skills, manage stressors, connect to supportive services, and build a foundation for lasting recovery. Residential programs run 24/7 and include individual and group therapy, family therapy, individualized case management, treatment planning, drug and alcohol counseling, medication support services, and crisis intervention. This is an On Call position: shift hours and days vary as needed. The Treasure Island Residential Step Down (RSD) services are available to beneficiaries who are stepping down from inpatient/residential substance use disorder treatment. Clients must be concurrently in treatment, specifically in outpatient (OP), intensive outpatient (IOP), Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), or Outpatient (aka Ambulatory) Withdrawal Management (OP-WM) settings. RSD provides a temporary, drug and alcohol-free environment to residents that are actively engaged in outpatient treatment for medically necessary SUD provided to the client off-site. Job purpose : The Recovery Coach is responsible for assessing client needs and strengths in support of health and recovery. Through individual coaching with program-specific requirements and case management, Recovery Coaches assist clients in navigating systems of care while providing a supportive recovery environment. They maintain and assess the safety and security of the program and residents during house rounds and communicate with the interdisciplinary team. They perform crisis intervention as needed and ensure the facility environment is safe and welcoming. Key Responsibilities Client Services: Welcome and assist clients with navigating the building, provide excellent customer service, assist with required enrollment paperwork, and coordinate transportation for patients in residential programs. Individual Responsibilities: Provide direct services such as intakes, assessment, crisis intervention, and case management; work on retention and completion of clients; facilitate individual coaching sessions; provide learning opportunities and support to meet recovery goals; link clients to internal and external resources; perform house runs to ensure safety and accountability; perform crisis intervention and communicate with the treatment team; document client updates and incidents; perform CPR/First Aid including administering Narcan; work weekends and holidays as needed. Treatment Setting Responsibilities: Facilitate community meetings; perform crisis intervention; document all client updates and facility incidents; perform periodic house runs; manage client money and medications when assigned to Health and Wellness office; accompany clients to offsite appointments; attend trainings and meetings; plan client celebrations and events; be available on weekends and holidays as needed. Documentation Responsibilities: Develop transition plans and progress notes; complete discharge paperwork and required agency assessments; maintain accurate electronic records; weekly accountability reports and collaboration with treatment providers to aid program completion. Safety Responsibilities: Remain alert during shifts; maintain a safe and orderly environment; perform crisis intervention; de-escalate situations; conduct regular rounds; ensure a welcoming environment; CPR/First Aid as needed; may work weekends and holidays. Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Certification, and Experience High School diploma or equivalent. First Aid and CPR certification. Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance. Experience with substance use, mental health issues, criminal background, and barriers to economic self-sufficiency. A Drug and Alcohol Registration/Certification recognized by DHCS preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Knowledge Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed treatment. Knowledge of clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes, etc.). Preferably bilingual in San Francisco threshold languages. Knowledge of gender-responsive, trauma-informed, and co-occurring treatment. Background check and livescan clearance required.
