Tacoma Community College seeks a student-centered part-time professor to join our Physical Education faculty. This position includes development, preparation, and delivery of courses within the Physical Education department. Teaching assignments may include daytime or evening classes using various modalities including face-to-face, hybrid, or fully online (synchronous or asynchronous). This position reports to the Dean for Healthcare and works with the Physical Education Department Chair and faculty. Essential Functions
Prepare and teach courses in Physical Education that may include: Total Fitness, Fast Fitness, Independent Fitness Lab, Advanced First Aid, Coaching Theory, Weight Training, Toning, Health & Wellness, Badminton/Pickleball, Softball, Hiking, Volleyball, Walking, Bowling, or other courses offered by the department. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field from an accredited college or university. Two years of related work experience and/or current teaching experience in Physical Education. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Physical Education or relevant field. Experience teaching at a community college. Experience using online classroom platforms (e.g., Angel, Canvas) as a teaching tool. Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment. Availability to attend regular in-person activities on campus for student meetings, college and program committee work, industry partner meetings, and related functions. The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate

This is a part-time faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Salary ranges are per credit hour and may include LAB or Professional Services pay as specified. Placement on the faculty salary schedule is per the 2024 Faculty Negotiated Agreement. Part-time faculty may be eligible for health care and retirement benefits after the first consecutive quarter of half-time or more employment.
