Associate Attorney - Energy Location:
Albany, NY or New Haven, CT (Hybrid opportunity) Description:
Harris Beach Murtha’s Energy Industry Team is growing and seeks candidates to work with our Team and clients on matters involving project development and siting, regulatory compliance, civil and administrative enforcement proceedings, and dispute resolution/litigation. Our clients include electric generation facility owners, battery energy storage facility owners, electric and gas transmission facility owners, water and gas utilities, submeters of electricity, energy service companies, and large energy users. The Energy Associate will have the opportunity to: Represent clients with regulatory matters before state and federal administrative agencies Plan and execute pre-application strategy, draft and file application documents, and obtain permits for projects before various state and federal regulatory agencies Research federal and state statutes and agency regulations/orders affecting regulated industries and draft summary memoranda Draft administrative petitions and related filings, comments to administrative agencies, complaints/answers, memoranda of law, and discovery demands/responses Applications are encouraged and desirable if you have: 1+ years’ experience in general regulatory and/or litigation; energy experience preferred but not required Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school Admission to NYS bar (or ability to waive in) Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment Exceptionally strong writing skills Excellent verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload Ability to absorb, process, and understand new information rapidly Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of performance Conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization Military experience welcome Salary information:
Albany, NY: $114,000 – 175,000. Salary varies based on relevant experience and geographic location. Note:
