Job Summary The Director of Safety and Security will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety policies, emergency preparedness, risk management initiatives, and security operations across campus. Reporting to the

Chief Finance and Operations Officer , this role manages security staff and contractors while collaborating with internal departments and external emergency responders to ensure a safe learning and working environment. Essential Functions & Tasks Coordinates and leads a comprehensive school safety and security program. Develops, implements, and audits safety policies, procedures, and response plans. Leads emergency preparedness efforts, including drills for fire, intruders, weather, and transportation. Oversees and develops security staff through training, performance evaluations, and corrective action plans. Manages the command center, including campus camera systems and weather monitoring tools. Ensures proper documentation and reporting of all incidents and activities. Collaborates with Facilities, IT, and local law enforcement to maintain optimal safety practices. Manages traffic and parking enforcement for campus visitors, parents, and students. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 7–10 years of education and/or experience in security or law enforcement. High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Proven supervisory experience with a track record of successfully leading and developing a team. Experience in emergency planning and incident management. Valid driver’s license, Florida Class D and G licenses. Preferred Qualifications Experience in an independent school environment. Emergency Management Certification First Responder certification (CPR & First Aid). Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
