Senior Supply Chain & Transportation Manager
Location: Atlanta, GA Overview
The Senior Supply Chain and Transportation Manager will develop and hone multi-modal distribution experience in the areas of relationship and contract management, customer service, inventory management and cost systems management, and IT integration with the Transportation Management System (TMS). The Manager will assist in the development and execution of multi-modal distribution and logistics strategies. The candidate must be a well-disciplined, analytical, and creative person able to evaluate and drive cost savings and service enhancements that will benefit the company and customers. The individual must have strong learning ability and be team-oriented to quickly learn and understand all aspects of the business and to create “win-win” scenarios. Primary Responsibilities
Relationship & Contract Management Participate in the company’s relationship with primarily North American core transload operators Work closely with trucking carriers to manage performance, capacity, and service levels in alignment with business needs Develop Distribution and Logistics Strategies for transload network in support of commercial goals Execute short-term and long-term strategies to achieve business objectives; execute logistical and supply chain options associated with each Trans-location as an added value service for customers Manage movement of goods to each location Inspect facilities/establish new transload locations as required Handle service issues Manage inventory Analyze sourcing options in preparation of emergency situations Cost and Systems Management Negotiate contracts for each location, including agreements with trucking carriers Manage, forecast, and benchmark costs versus other options Audit and process invoices Solve system problems related to freight and logistics in the TMS and the rate management system Update and manage truck rates in the rate management system, which is integrated into SAP and TMS Customer Support Support Customer Service as required Provide timely quotes of distribution expenses for potential customers Problem-solve truck issues Problem-solve shipping issues Problem-solve escalated issues at trans-loaders, packagers, and warehouses Required Skills And Experiences
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, supply chain management, or business administration from an accredited four-year college or university plus 3-5 years of experience in multi-modal supply chain logistics Additional degrees/field of study may be considered based on experience Excellent negotiation skills Proven problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships Inventory management experience Cost management experience – managing, forecasting, and benchmarking rail freight experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven analytical experience Computer/System proficient; SAP experienced and intermediate to advanced Excel skills Preferred Skills And Experiences
5 years of experience in multi-modal supply chain logistics, with a focus on commodities Demonstrated best practice benchmarking Strong understanding of commodity distribution dynamics across rail, truck, and transload networks Growth potential Compensation and Benefits
