Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, and creative expression, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.

We are seeking a Volunteer Creative Director to lead MAP’s creative vision and oversee design across programs, campaigns, and fashion initiatives. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong creative portfolio and experience leading multidisciplinary teams. The Creative Director will ensure that MAP’s storytelling, branding, and design work are innovative, consistent, and deeply aligned with our mission. Key Responsibilities
Define and oversee MAP’s overall creative direction and storytelling strategy Supervise and mentor designers, illustrators, writers, and multimedia volunteers Lead the creative development of MAP’s fashion projects, including Thread & Promise and Threads of Voices Collaborate with leadership and communications teams to align creative strategy with organizational goals Manage design and creative assets for campaigns, programs, and events Ensure all creative work reflects MAP’s values, mission, and brand identity Guide the production of multimedia, fashion, and visual storytelling projects Qualifications
Proven experience in creative direction, art direction, or multidisciplinary design leadership Strong portfolio showcasing branding, design, or multimedia storytelling work Proficiency in creative tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or similar platforms) Experience mentoring or leading creative teams Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills Passion for using creativity to drive social impact and empower underserved youth Commitment
Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week Minimum 6-month commitment preferred Fully remote with virtual collaboration meetings What You’ll Gain
