We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence. SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking
On-Call Public Safety/Security Officers
, specifically those with experience in
behavioral health services and providing public safety support , to join our SOME family. On-call employees work
AS NEEDED
to cover shifts and fill in for staff during vacations and holidays. COVID-19 Considerations:
In alignment with DC Health, COVID-19 vaccinations, and boosters are mandated for personnel working in SOME’s healthcare-designated programs, which currently include Medical, Dental, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services (BHS), Exodus House, Jordan House, Kirwan House, Keuhner Place, Leland Place, and Mary Claire House. Requests for a medical or religious exemption will be considered for a reasonable accommodation. We are currently accepting applications for on-call employees that have the ability to work
daytime
and
weekend
hours of 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. You
MUST
have some experience serving vulnerable populations. Schedule:
Work as needed. Must have availability between 6:30 am - 3:00 pm. Shifts may vary. Qualifications: Required:
HS Diploma or GED; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety/Security experience; experience providing services to the homeless. Required License/Certification:
CPR/First Aid certification. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: Organizational skills with an attention to detail Able to exhibit professionalism under pressure Time management skills with the ability to prioritize Able to communicate with diverse audiences Assertiveness Conflict resolution skills Verbal de-escalation skills/Technique Resilience to work with difficult situations Expected Contributions: Public Safety Ensure SOME "O" Street locations are safe and clients receive services in a secure environment Provide conflict mitigation and de-escalate conflict between clients and/or staff without the use of force Document information to be used to develop and file incident reports for medical or police issues Issue barring notices as needed Contact police when conflict escalates or violent behavior is exhibited by the client Develop positive working relationships with the police Monitor security cameras and the perimeter of the buildings Maintain daily security log Enforce rules consistently for all clients and guests Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to stand for long periods. Reports to:
