Public Safety Officer Team Lead (Unarmed)
with a great attitude and a high level of commitment to keep our clients, staff, and community safe. Covid-19 Considerations : In alignment with DC Health, COVID-19 vaccinations, and boosters are mandated for personnel working in SOME’s healthcare-designated programs, which currently include Medical, Dental, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services (BHS), Exodus House, Jordan House, Kirwan House, Kuehner Place, Leland Place, and Mary Claire House. Requests for a medical or religious exemption will be considered for reasonable accommodation. Position Description : The Public Safety Officer Team Lead will lead public safety efforts for SOME "O" Street facilities. The Public Safety Officer Team Lead will also provide operational support for all SOME properties when needed. Schedule : Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm (40 hours per week) Required : High School Diploma or GED; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety experience; experience providing services to the homeless Preferred : Bachelor's degree; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety and supervisory experience; experience providing services to the homeless Required License/Certification : CPR/First Aid; Must possess and maintain a vehicle and valid Driver's License (Mileage will be reimbursed) Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Organizational skills with attention to detail Able to communicate with diverse audiences Resilience to work with difficult situations Supervisory & leadership skills Able to exhibit professionalism under pressure Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Excellent verbal and written communication skills Assertiveness Conflict resolution skills Expected Contributions: Public Safety Management Ensure SOME "O" Street locations are safe and clients receive services in a secure environment. Provide security detail inside/outside of the locations. Provide conflict mitigation and de-escalate conflict between clients and/or staff without the use of force. Monitor security cameras and the perimeter of the buildings Develop daily reports of serious incidents and barring notices Print off pictures for barring list and monitor facility usage Medical Mental Health Support Collaborate with O Street Front Desk staff to assist in the smooth and safe flow of patients coming in and out of the Clinic Make regular rounds through the Clinic lobby and hallways to ensure the clients/patients are behaving in an appropriate manner that creates a safe environment for staff and clients Enforce public health and safety measures for clients and staff onsite, as needed Supervisory Ensure appropriate department staffing levels in order to meet objectives; Assess, evaluate, and hire new employees as needed. Contribute to budget development, and use sound judgment to leverage resources in accomplishing department goals; Administer the budget and comply with SOME financial reporting requirements. Contribute to strategy development and strive to improve department functions and performance; Assist in the development of standards and goals as appropriate. Submit administrative paperwork to Human Resources, Finance, Compliance, and CQI; Refer to SOME Employee Handbook or policies for guidance. Environmental Working Conditions : This position functions primarily on the O Street Campus with exposure to heat, cold, steam, and fumes. Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors on SOME facility grounds. Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, kneel, and squat, and may be required to stand for long periods. Reports to:
