Overview
TEKsystems is currently seeking an IP Network Engineer with strong Nokia experience for a 100% Remote 1 year + contract with opportunity for extension and permanent conversion.
Location: Fully remote. This is a remote position.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering design and implementation services to support the company's IP/MPLS core network, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and/or video transmission services.
Provide technical leadership and escalation support for various operations and engineering groups, as well as technical training and mentorship to team members.
Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments.
Plan, design, implement, and document new network implementations.
Complete Engineering Estimates and Installation Packages as needed.
Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams.
Mentor more junior staff to support growth of technical knowledge and experience.
Independently complete assigned engineering projects with minimal assistance and/or guidance; manage multiple projects with attention to timelines and budgets.
Qualifications
10+ years of relevant enterprise Network Engineering experience with Design, MOP creation, ISIS, MPLS, BGP and OSPF.
Experience with IP/MPLS core networks and related transport technologies; strong emphasis on Nokia equipment.
Certifications: Cisco CCNA / CCNP; Nokia NRS I / NRS II; Brocade BCNE / BCNP; Juniper JNCIA / JNCIS.
Minimum four years of relevant experience in a Carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment.
Educational prerequisites: High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications or related field is required; or a combination of relevant work experience and education; graduate degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills; ability to collaborate with internal departments and operate in a converged, scalable carrier network environment.
Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.), RSVP, LDP, PIM, and data center network design; experience with VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG, and other Layer 2 Ethernet technologies.
Experience & Skills
High-level understanding of high availability, redundancy, reliability, scalability, and security.
Ability to create and edit network drawings using Microsoft Visio.
Advanced experience configuring Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches.
Extensive experience with transport technologies such as Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi-Fi, and cellular.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills; self-directed and motivated with a focus on company goals.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits may include:
