Overview
TEKsystems is currently seeking an IP Network Engineer with strong Nokia experience for a 100% remote 1 year+ contract with the opportunity for extension and permanent conversion. Experience required: 10+ years of relevant enterprise Network Engineering experience including design, MOP creation, ISIS, MPLS, BGP and OSPF. Responsibilities
Provide engineering design and implementation services to support the IP/MPLS core network, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and/or video transmission services. Offer technical leadership and escalation support for operations and engineering groups; provide technical training and mentorship to team members. Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure reliable operation and growth of a converged, scalable carrier network. Plan, design, implement, test in lab environments, document, and complete engineering estimates and installation packages as needed. Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams. Mentor junior staff to support growth of technical knowledge and experience. Qualifications
Minimum four years of relevant and progressive technical experience in a Carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment. Education: High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications, or related field required. Combination of relevant work experience and/or education may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Graduate degree may substitute for experience. Certifications: Industry-specific certifications relevant to the discipline are highly valued. Technical skills: Advanced experience with configuration of Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches; strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.); familiarity with RSVP, LDP, and PIM; data center network design; knowledge of Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi-Fi, cellular technologies; extensive experience with Layer-2 Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG); strong communication and project management skills. Must be self-directed, highly motivated, and able to manage multiple projects with minimal guidance. Experience & Skills
