Overview
TEKsystems is currently seeking an IP Network Engineer with strong Nokia experience for a 100%Remote 1 year + contract with opportunity for extension and permanent conversion. Responsibilities
Engineer II, IP Engineering responsibilities including engineering design and implementation for the company’s IP/MPLS core network, carrier Ethernet transport systems, cellular data core systems, and/or video transmission services. Provide technical leadership and escalation support for various operations and engineering groups, and deliver technical training and mentorship to team members. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure reliable operation and growth of a converged and scalable carrier network. Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments. Plan, design, implement, and document new network implementations. Complete Engineering Estimates and Installation Packages as needed. Provide escalation and troubleshooting support for operations teams. Mentor more junior staff to support growth of technical knowledge and experience. Independently complete assigned engineering projects with minimal assistance and manage multiple projects with timeline and budget considerations. Qualifications
Minimum four years of relevant and progressive technical experience in a Carrier Ethernet or large ISP environment. High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications or related field required. Graduate degree may substitute for experience. Strong experience with Nokia/Nokia NRS I/NRS II, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Brocade BCNE/BCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS. Advanced understanding of routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP), RSVP, LDP, and PIM. Strong knowledge of IP/MPLS core networks, data center network design, and common transport technologies (Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Fiber, Microwave, Satellite, Wi-Fi, cellular). Extensive experience with layer-2 Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG). Strong project management, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; self-directed and motivated. Industry certifications relevant to the discipline are highly valued. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
